Broken Veins
Causes and Treatments
What are broken veins, and what causes them?
Broken veins are tiny, damaged, but harmless veins that become visible on the skin’s surface. They can appear in many different ways, such as thin lines that are blue, purple or red in colour. Often also referred to as thread veins or spider veins, they become more common with age.
They can be caused by a number of factors, including:
- Ageing
- Hormone changes
- Leg injuries
- Sun damage
- Genetics
What treatments are available?
Treatment routes can vary depending on the severity of the condition. However, Laser Skin Rejuvenation proves to be the most effective and efficient treatment for broken veins. Using our industry-leading Candela GentleMax Pro laser machine, the treatment is relatively quick and involves little downtime following treatment.
Gentle exfoliation and skin barrier strengthening treatments can also be effective, either on their own or in combination with a course of laser treatments.
