Causes and Treatments
What is acne?
Acne is one of the most common skin conditions treated here at Koha Skin Clinic.
The condition will cause sufferers to experience blackheads, whiteheads and pus-filled spots (pustules) on their skin. It’s most commonly found on the face, but acne can impact all parts of the body.
Acne can range in severity from a few spots on the face to a more significant problem than can have a long-term impact, including scarring and low self-confidence. There are also many different acne types, so a personalised treatment plan can be crucial in treating the skin and preventing scarring.
What can cause acne?
Acne can be caused by many different factors, including hormonal imbalance, overproduction of sebum and incorrect skincare.
The condition used to be predominantly associated with teenagers; however, modern life, pollution and stress are triggers that can cause the problem to persist longer or even appear at the later stages of adult life.
What treatments are available?
Depending on the severity of your acne, there is a range of treatment options available.
For those with mild acne, gentle treatments with no-downtime, like our HydraFacial and LED Light Therapy, will have a life-changing impact.
Alternatively, for more severe cases, exfoliation with DermaQuest Resurfacers and Chemical Peels will significantly reduce acne’s impact.
We can also reduce the appearance of acne scarring using the only FDA-approved microneedling treatment: SkinPen.
